Asil Moussa is a writer, actor, and filmmaker. Her work centres girlhood and womanhood, focusing on intimate character dynamics informed by her Egyptian-Canadian lens.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Creative Writing, and Digital Journalism from UWindsor, along with a Certificate in Film Studies from TMU. Her screen credits include projects streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and CBC Gem.

Her short film, THE CARD, was a semi-finalist on CBC’s Short Film Face Off. The feature script she co-wrote, LOST IN THE PINES, was selected for The Black List’s Muslim List. She also wrote on the animated feature film, TIME HOPPERS, released theatrically. The Riveter Magazine called Asil “the hijab-wearing actress you should know”.

Asil is currently in post-production on her short film RANA & DINA, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the National Film Board of Canada.
